| Program | ||||
Friday: Meet on Friday evening at Barrow House YH on Derwent Water to be met by your instructors and guides. An evening meal is available if you arrive by 7pm. After introductions and once you have settled in we will provide you with a small presentation about the weekend and also provide you with some clothing and equipment for the weekend. |

Saturday: After a hearty breakfast we will walk the short distance of a few hundred meters to the lake and head off in our open canoes for the day. Our journey will see us visit an island, paddle up a river and also go rock climbing and abseiling not to mention the excellent barbecue lunch that will be laid on. Why not try the bridge jump into the river Derwent before we take a leisurely paddle back to the Youth Hostel? Or you may wish to try some gun-whale bobbing, a popular pursuit of canoeists who try their own world record balancing attempt! As usual we will be capturing you in action on camera, which we will view after our evening meal through our digital projector. The remainder of the evening can be spent in Keswick, which is only a 5-minute drive away and here you will be able to sample the best of Lakeland hospitality and ales! |

Sunday: After a hearty breakfast we will again venture down to the lake but this time take our sea kayaks for a spin. We will venture to the northern part of the lake by Keswick and on route we will visit a number of islands and take mid morning tea and scones on one of them. We will return to the hostel for our packed lunches before donning wetsuits for a brilliant ghyll scramble that will have you climbing, ducking, jumping, squeezing, laughing and much more. This activity is a great way to finish an action packed weekend albeit a very wet one! |
